After sitting down and writing a blog containing five different summer reading options, I settled on Jason Stanley’s How Fascism Works. Written by an expert in propaganda with a direct connection to the Holocaust, How Fascism Works outlines in readable format some of the important signs to look out for as our society creeps ever further towards authoritarian fascism.
Here are two of those signs:
On Saturday, May 14th, a white man travelled two hours from his rural community to majority Black suburb of Buffalo, NY, where he, motivated by the so-called ‘White Replacement Theory’ shot and killed 10 Black people, injuring 3 others
This past Wednesday, Justin Trudeau was prevented by the RCMP from proceeding with a planned rally in BC with Liberals from the South Asian community after he was met with white thugs carrying makeshift nooses on wooden gallows, calling for his death. These same so-called protestors hurled racist insults and slurs at the many folks who showed up to the event.
How Fascism Works will definitely leave you with plenty to talk about with your friends, as each of us at Nexus go about trying to make our world a better place.
